Dedicated Phone Service for First Nations Participants

A new dedicated phone service has been established to provide a more culturally respectful and tailored experience for First Nations people seeking NDIS assistance.

In a move to improve accessibility and cultural safety, the NDIA has officially launched a dedicated phone service for First Nations people with a disability, their families, and carers.

This service is staffed by personnel who have undergone extensive cultural competency training, and aims to provide tailored guidance through the NDIS access, planning, and review processes.

Why was this implemented?

Feedback from First Nations communities highlighted that standard communication channels often failed to account for cultural nuances and the remote location challenges faced by many participants. The new line ensures that individuals seeking assistance feel heard and respected from their very first interaction.

How to access: Participants can now connect directly to the First Nations support team by selecting the dedicated option on the primary NDIS hotline.
