Security Update: myGov Phishing and Fraud Prevention

The NDIA issues warnings regarding targeted phishing scams and introduces new security measures, including one-time code checks for updating bank details.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has issued an urgent warning to all participants and providers following an increase in highly sophisticated cyber attacks and phishing campaigns targeting myGov accounts.

Cybercriminals have been attempting to compromise accounts to intercept funds or extract personal data.

New Security Measures

To combat this, the NDIA has immediately introduced several new security protocols:

  • One-Time Code Checks: Any request to update bank details will now require verification via a one-time SMS or email code.
  • Heightened Monitoring: The Fraud Taskforce is working closely with Services Australia to flag suspicious activity on linked myGov and NDIS accounts.

Participants are reminded to never share their passwords, PINs, or verification codes with anyone, including support workers or providers. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact the NDIA Fraud Reporting Hotline immediately.
